To that end there a any number of excellent plugins that will add sharing buttons for all the social media networks… but none of them do EVERYTHING I’d like them to do. So, here’s what my ideal plugin would do:

1 Create a unique short url for each post and page that incorporates Google Analytics Campaign Tracking code.

Now, that’s a lot easier said than done. If you have Google Analytics installed then you can add code to track how often people click your link to reach a given post on your blog. This is really useful information as it will tell you what networks send you the most links, what links are the most popular, etc. With this data you get feedback that will help you improve your social media efforts.

2 Add buttons for sharing on the major networks

This is straight forward and dozens of plugins do this already. The key is to use the short URL above, this way your Analytics data will receive the same parameters from people who share your links as when you shared the link on the network.

Another interesting piece of info regarding shutter actuations.

Shutter Actuations and Mirror Actuations are not the same. However the mirror has to move before the image is captured so the number is good to keep an eye out for. Your mileage will probably vary.

Hmmm… I think I’ll order a shutter mechanism now that the camera is over 100000 actuations.
